What's in it for me?

What's in it for me?

Life as a London Ambassador will be hard work, but in return, you could get a lot out of your experience.

While you're volunteering

The capital's atmosphere during the Games will be unforgettable with the millions of visitors. London Ambassadors will be at the heart of the all the excitement, and you'll be able to say: "I was there!"

Being a London Ambassador is also your chance to try something different. Whether it's volunteering for the first time, using new technology, working within a team or getting to know different people.

Meet new people

As well as working with other volunteers from all over London, you'll get the chance to meet people from all over the world. On your first day as a London Ambassador, you might get chatting to a family from the USA, welcome South African sightseers, or share a joke with sports fans from Scotland.

This means the chance to make new friends, learn about other cultures, and stay in touch with your fellow London Ambassadors.

After 2012

Your experience as a London Ambassador doesn't have to stop when your last shift ends. The things you learn during your time as a London Ambassador will stay with you forever.

Using your new skills

London Ambassadors will be given fantastic training. You'll take part in group role plays, learn practical skills such as first aid, discover how to keep calm in a crisis and become a pro at dealing with difficult situations.

You can use your new skills to find a job, or be inspired by your experience as a London Ambassador to continue volunteering.

Being a London Ambassador will also give you the chance to learn something about yourself. For example, you might not have realised you have a talent for customer service, have a passion for volunteering, or are a natural team leader.

Recognition from London

We want the capital to see the contribution that London Ambassadors have made to the success of the Games.

After the Games move onto Rio de Janeiro, we will be holding a number of events to celebrate London's Olympic volunteers.

We will release more details over the next two years, but we expect this to include events, personal mementos and publicity to recognise London Ambassadors' contribution.
