Fulham Football Club’s Foundation currently works with over 100 volunteers who all support a number of worthwhile local community projects.

Volunteers are able to learn new skills from volunteering and acquire a great deal of confidence and pride in helping to deliver successful projects and events. With the 2012 Olympic Games just over a year away, being a London Ambassador is a great opportunity to get involved in volunteering.

After many years living in the UK’s capital, I am immensely proud to now call London my home. So, I’m supporting the Mayor of London’s plan to recruit 8,000 London Ambassador volunteers who will provide a world-class welcome for visitors to the capital at the time of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

Volunteers will provide accurate and helpful information together with friendly insights into the attractions of London. I hope many Arsenal fans will join the programme!

After Sydney, Athens and Beijing, it's our turn to show off our great city. London has so much to offer, but so has its population. I'm proud to live in this city and I want the rest of the world to know it.

That's why I want to get involved in finding our London Ambassadors. In 2012 we will be at the centre of the sporting world and we need you to help us make the Games the best in history.

It’s hard to believe that the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are only a year away, and it’s really exciting to think that next year we will welcome thousands of athletes and millions of visitors to our amazing capital.

Now is the time to apply to be a London Ambassador. It’s quick and easy, and it will bring you one step closer to being part of the action in 2012. Make sure you apply by 28 February – you won’t regret it!

Older people can be discouraged from getting involved during the Games, and tend to assume that only younger volunteers are needed. This couldn’t be further from the truth; it’s important that London Ambassadors come from all walks of life, and this includes older people.

A key part of the London Ambassador role is to bring some warmth, personality and colour to the visitor’s experience, and who better to do this than those who have seen London change through the decades, and have a few tales to tell?

As a Londoner, I am extremely proud that our capital is hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As well as visiting London to see the world’s top sporting stars competing in amazing venues, London’s visitors in 2012 are coming to the capital to experience all that London has to offer – its attractions, culture, history – and its people!

I encourage Londoners to volunteer as London Ambassadors during the Games. Not only is this a once in a lifetime opportunity, it’s your chance to welcome the world to London in 2012!

I’m really excited that London is hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. There is a real buzz now that the Games are only a year away, with more and more Londoners starting to feel the excitement as we count down to Games time.

It’s fantastic to see so many Londoners embracing the Games by signing up to volunteer. I think the London Ambassadors will do a brilliant job of welcoming visitors into the capital; as the friendly, welcoming face of London, they will make visitors feel at home while helping them discover London’s hidden gems.

I wish everyone who has applied to volunteer the very best of luck – I know you’ll do an amazing job during the Games.

There’s a great book about this city called London Belongs To Me whose title encapsulates why I’d never live anywhere else. I get a buzz every time I cross the river. I still rush to sit up front on the top of a double decker bus. There are still surprises and secrets about London that I discover every day. And the whole world is already here – whether you’re looking for the finest kimchee outside of Korea or the greatest musicians passing through.  As a journalist, I’m convinced lively politics and journalism thrive here because we know London belongs to us all.

I have been looking forward to London 2012 for what seems like an age. I believe it is a wonderful opportunity to show the greatest city on earth at its very best. The park is already stunning, the other locations further afield are glorious too. I for one will be proud to welcome the world’s athletes and visitors.

Londoners will play a vital role in welcoming visitors and showing them the real London.

We want our visitors to remember Londoners as warm, friendly and welcoming; people who want to show off their city and share the parts of London that, as a Londoner, you can personally recommend!

I’m passionate about people getting involved during 2012, and I genuinely believe that by volunteering as a London Ambassador, your efforts will make a real difference.

Being a London Ambassador during the Games is a fantastic opportunity to represent your capital city, and give visitors a first-class welcome that London can be proud of.

We are all proud Londoners. We know that London as Host City for the Olympic and Paralympic Games is more than just the venues and the events; it’s about the City and what the City has to offer. That’s why we love the London Ambassador programme. A chance for people from all communities who also love London to help the visitors coming to this great City to get the most out of it.
