Day in the life

Day in the life

7.00 am - Morning

London Ambassador: Time to wake up. I've got a busy day ahead.

7.45 am

London Ambassador: Just enough time to zip up my tracksuit.

8.00 am

London Ambassador: Make sure I've checked my watch!

8.15 am

Ready for action. Time to head for the pod.

9.00 am - Meeting the Team Leader

London Ambassador: The pod is packed with Ambassadors today. I wonder who I'll meet today.

Team leader: Morning. You'll be working around Buckingham Palace today.

Here's your PDA, which will help you with any questions you get from our visitors.

London Ambassador: Cool! These are really handy.

11.15 - Transport troubles

American gentleman: That's it. We're completely lost. And the 200m heats start in one hour.

American lady: I told you to bring the map! You never listen to me.

London Ambassador: Hi there. Do you guys need any help?

American lady: We need to get to Stratford in one hour.

American gentleman: Where's the nearest subway station?

London Ambassador: No problem. The quickest way is to go to Green Park station which is only 5 minutes away. You'll need to catch a Jubilee Line train, which will go all the way to the Stadium.

American gentleman: Phew! Thanks for the tip.

12.00pm - Lunch with other Ambassadors

Girl 1: How was your day?

London Ambassador: Really busy. I've helped about 10 people and even suggested a good place for lunch to a couple from France.

Girl 2: I even got asked a question in the lunch queue.

Girl 3: It's been a great first shift though

London Ambassador: I'm loving it too. Right, that's my lunch break over.

1.00pm - A crowded Tube platform

Businesswoman: There's no way I can fit on that. Why is it always so busy around here? I'm picking the kids up in 20 minutes, what am I supposed to do now?

London Ambassador: Can I give you a hand?

Businesswoman: What's the quickest way to Hackney?

London Ambassador: You've got two options. You can take the Overground, or you can take a bus to Hackney Wick. There were only a few people at the bus stop when I was up there.

Businesswoman: Thanks, that's brilliant. Gotta dash though!

3.00pm - End of your shift

Team leader: Hey. How did it go? Busy?

London Ambassador: I had a fantastic day, but I was a bit hot. Can I wear my own shorts tomorrow?

Team leader: I'm afraid not, as everyone needs to wear the same uniform.

London Ambassador: Oh, OK, just thought I'd check. Hope it's a bit cooler tomorrow. Here's my PDA.

Team leader: Thanks. See you tomorrow.

8.00pm - Meeting Friends

Friend: Hi. I heard you'd be volunteering. Wanna catch a film later?

London Ambassador: I'll give it a miss. It's my last shift tomorrow, and I can see my bus. I'll call you tomorrow.
